On the second leg of a road back-to-back, the Golden State Warriors started quick to take an early lead against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. However, it didn’t last long.
The Pacers piled together 47 points in the second quarter to take a commanding lead into halftime. However, a heroic effort from Steph Curry helped the Warriors build a comeback attempt in the third quarter.
Yet, with two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Curry exited the game with a shoulder injury. With Curry ruled out for the remainder of the contest, Golden State’s comeback hopes dwindled.
Adding to the Warriors’ shorthanded rotation that was missing Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green picked up a pair of technicals in the fourth quarter and was ejected with eight minutes remaining in the contest.
Without Golden State’s core, Indiana was able to hold on down the stretch, 125-119. Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 29 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field with six assists and four rebounds in 34 minutes.
Prior to leaving with an injury, Curry led the game with 38 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor with five made triples to go along with seven boards and seven assists.
With another road loss, the Warriors record dropped to 2-13 away from San Francisco’s Chase Center.
