The Philadelphia 76ers are without a draft pick in 2023, so it’s a good time to look back at some past draft picks the franchise has made.
The Sixers were coming off a tough 2006-07 season. Philadelphia had traded Allen Iverson to the Denver Nuggets and then waived Chris Webber, leading to him signing with the Detroit Pistons.
The Sixers held the 12th pick in the 2007 draft, and they selected a versatile forward in Thaddeus Young. The lanky forward out of Georgia Tech played a role right away. He averaged 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in helping the Sixers make a surprise run to the playoffs.
Young then played well in the first round against the Pistons, averaging 10.2 points and 4.5 rebounds. Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead in the series before falling in six games.
Overall, Young averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in seven seasons in Philadelphia. He was then set to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2014 offseason.
