The NBA is reportedly close to finalizing plans to host a virtual draft combine at regional team facilities throughout the league, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Prospects that elect to participate would go through physical testing at facilities and would have their measurements taken by league officials. Players will undergo physicals at local hospitals by team doctors and would also be tested for the coronavirus at each facility.

The Draft Combine was initially scheduled to take place on May 21-24 in Chicago but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The thought around the league was the event would eventually take place virtually but the NBA has not yet finalized a location or date.

Teams have been prohibited from working out prospects in person and viewing live video from prospects. They are only permitted to interview players virtually for a limited amount of time each week ahead of the NBA Draft.

Last month, the league sent teams a list of 105 potential players that could be invited to participate in the NBA Draft Combine. The list of potential combine participants was created based on votes from NBA teams and could be narrowed down to around 70 if needed.

The NBA at one point reportedly discussed hosting the combine inside of the bubble at the Wide World of Sports Complex but have apparently scrapped that idea with the league considering using regional team facilities around the league instead.

The NBA Draft is scheduled to take place on Oct. 16 while the Draft Lottery is set to happen on Thursday to determine the order of selection for the first 14 picks.
