NBA briefly listed Rockets rookie Brodric Thomas as 120 years old

Thomas, who will turn 24 in January, was listed as being 120 years old by the NBA’s official website.

For a brief moment on Monday, Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony was overtaken as the oldest player to suit up in a preseason game this year by Houston Rockets rookie Brodric Thomas.

Thomas, who will actually turn 24 in January, was erroneously listed by NBA.com as being 120 years old, which would easily make him the oldest player to ever suit up in the NBA. In fact, that would make Thomas the oldest person alive in the world today.

The gaffe was caught by Reddit user u/mgartaty, but it has since been fixed with Anthony reclaiming his place atop the list. Fear not ‘Melo fans, the 17-year veteran is not the oldest player in the NBA, that distinction belongs to Udonis Haslem at the ripe age of 40 years old.

Thomas, who went undrafted out of Truman State University, has logged two appearances with the Rockets this preseason, totaling two points, four rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes. He signed a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with the Rockets on Dec. 1 but will likely be cut and sent to the G League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
