The Brooklyn Nets are one of the more interesting teams in the NBA heading into the 2023-24 season as they navigate from being one of the title contenders in the league over the past few seasons to the rebuilding team that they are now. Many of the sports books expect the Nets to have a losing record during this upcoming season.

In a recent episode of the “Locked On NBA” podcast, Jackson Gatlin of “Locked On Rockets” and Adam Armbrecht of “Locked On Nets” discussed some of the better teams in the Eastern Conference as part of a “stock watch” segment. The point of the segment is to see which teams they believe in or do not believe in if they expect those teams to be worse than last season.

When it came time to talk about Brooklyn, Armbrecht said that he was a “hold” on the team, meaning that he thinks that the Nets could still be a playoff team, but just won’t have high expectations. Gatlin, on the other hand, said that he is selling his stock in the Nets as he expects them to either have to go through the play-in mechanic of the postseason or miss the playoffs entirely.
