With games being postponed seemingly every game now and players across the league missing time due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols, the NBA has made it clear they will keep trying to play games and get through as much of the season as they can. As part of that push, the league has added more to their health and safety protocols, including one big measure that would have seemed to be part of the original protocols has been added: no non-team guests are allowed at the hotel.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim Bontemps, one GM believes the previous lack of restriction to be a culprit.
The league is no longer allowing players and staff to leave hotels for non-team activities, and it is eliminating visitors to hotel rooms, which one GM had told ESPN had been “the Mack truck driving through all our protocols.”
The league is also attempting to be more strict with mask protocols and essentially have players live in a mobile bubble. The Lakers are back on the court later on Tuesday against the Houston Rockets.
