The hit video game NBA 2K has become more than just a digital platform for basketball fans in recent years. The makers of the game have incorporated fashion, sneakers and music into the action, making each iteration of NBA 2K a snapshot of culture around the world. NBA 2K24 will continue that mission, this time celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip hop with a loaded soundtrack spanning the genre’s history.
In the past, 2K has partnered with artists such as Jay-Z, J. Cole and more in developing what 2K Sports calls the “gold standard for soundtracks” in video games. In 2K24, there will be tracks from Lil Uzi Vert, Ice Spice, Kodak Black, and many of today’s biggest hip hop artists as well as songs that have become genre standards like cherished favorites like “This DJ” by Warren G and “Hustlin” by Rick Ross.
As the season goes on, new songs will be added throughout the year. And yes, Lil Wayne’s 2009 song “Kobe Bryant” is included in the NBA 2K24 soundtrack, a fitting nod to this year’s cover athlete.
