Maybe the bar was a bit higher for the Miami Dolphins heading into Week 17 because, by comparison, they actually had way more to play for than the Buffalo Bills. Turns out the Bills (13-3) had different plans, though.
Buffalo thrashed the Dolphins, 56-26, and now the Fins will have to wait and see if they’ll get into the playoffs.
In the process, the final score line from Bills Stadium was certainly shocking to many. The national reaction was no different.
Here’s some of the top national and media reactions to Buffalo’s whooping of the Dolphins in Week 17:

I’ll say it again, louder than ever: Bills Mafia, how you livin’?!

So@JoshAllenQB absolutely assaulting One of the leagues best defenses. Eviscerating the whole defense. Embarrassing the secondary. Emasculating their coverage and plan.
Playing as good as anyone in football. MVP worthy season@BuffaloBills

Jonathan Coachman, CBS Sports
Hey @kevconnorsespn it’s good to see you let off the gas pedal with Josh Allen out. I LOVE Teams with a winning mentality no matter the circumstances. You want to be winning franchise you play to win. Btw should I change my handle to “1 seed Coach?” 😂😂

Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
The #Bills do the smart thing and pull QB Josh Allen. Other backups coming in, as well. … Good news for the #Dolphins. https://t.co/5KhEMQP0UT

I get this argument, no doubt, but think the two home playoff games is worth the gamble for the Bills. https://t.co/O6A0h6G6Xn

Chris Mortensen, ESPN
Josh Allen just torching the @Dolphins defense. John Brown back after 5-game absence, catches 32-yard TD pass, Allen's third of the game. Bills 28, Dolphins 6 with minute left in half.
— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) January 3, 2021
Jeff Kerr, CBS Sports
Josh Allen has more passing yards than Aaron Rodgers and more total TD than Patrick Mahomes.
He's torching the #Dolphins No. 1 scoring defense — in a game Miami has to win.
Are we sure he isn't the MVP?#BillsMafia

Louis Riddick, ESPN
What #Bills HC Sean McDermott, OC Brian Daboll and QB Coach Ken Dorsey have contributed to the development of Josh Allen can not be debated. Together with the personnel acquisitions of Brandon Beane, it has been a textbook example of how it’s done.

Andy Buckley, NBC’s The Office
Thanks to McDermott, Edmunds, Allen & the Bills, we have decided to re-open the Buffalo Branch!

Dolphins can get blown out and still make playoffs with a Colts or Browns loss.
