Nate David predicts the Giants win just two games this season

USA TODAY’s Nate Davis predicts the New York Giants will be the worst team in the NFL, winning just two games.

The New York Giants have won just 12 games over the past three seasons: two in 2017, six in 2018 and four last year. They’ve decided to blow things up, basically changing everything over that period of time — general manager, coaching staff, quarterback, defense, offensive line, etc.

So, why are pundits predicting they’ll be worse in 2020?

Nate Davis of USA TODAY believes the Giants are heading the wrong way in the NFC East standings, predicting they will struggle to match last year’s win total.

New York Giants (2-14): When you’re mixing a new staff, including first-time head coach Joe Judge, with so many young players – second-year QB Daniel Jones in particular – a muted outlook seems self-evident. Throw in a key opt-out (LT Nate Solder), major legal issue (2019 first-round CB Deandre Baker) and an unrelenting schedule that features the NFC West and AFC North, and optimism only ebbs further.

Good points all around, but the other 31 teams are also going to have issues, especially the other three teams in the NFC East. Washington is a mess from top to bottom. Sure, they’ve brought in Ron Rivera as the head coach but the controversy surrounding the team’s stripping of their long-time name has to become a distraction. Don’t forget, they have a second-year quarterback, too. And they don’t have Saquon Barkley, either.

Dallas has a new head coach as well (Mike McCarthy). Their former head coach (Jason Garrett) and O-Line coach (Marc Colombo) now work for the Giants. Philadelphia is now several seasons away from their Super Bowl glory and just selected a quarterback high in the draft, which could cause some drama.

I disagree about Solder and Baker being significant losses. Both players were subpar last year. I agree with Davis on the rest of the schedule as well. It is a tough go, but Judge appears to have this team on point. Without a true breather on the schedule, he won’t need to motivate this team on a weekly basis.
