NASCAR has been working on an electric racing vehicle and even talked about it during the annual “State of the Sport” address in November 2023. NASCAR Chief Operating Officer Steve O’Donnell said the sport has a car and an alternative body style. Now, an image of NASCAR’s new electric racing vehicle has been leaked on social media.
The sport’s new electric racing vehicle is shaped like a crossover, as seen below. O’Donnell said during the press conference in early November that NASCAR may not go racing with it but that it could be showcased at certain events in 2024. Also, NASCAR has other forms of the car that it wants to look at moving forward.

In fact, O’Donnell went to Japan after the 2023 season to look at hydrogen racing. It is clear that NASCAR is looking into the future and the leaked image of the new electric racing vehicle suggests that. Maybe, NASCAR will have a racing series with electric vehicles someday but that appears to be something that will take some time.
