The NASCAR Cup Series put on a show at Daytona International Speedway as it represented the regular season finale. The race featured a “Big One” on the final lap of Stage 2 involving leaders Ryan Blaney and Ty Gibbs while Ryan Preece suffered one of the most violent wrecks in NASCAR history in the closing laps.

The Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway earned 3.268 million average viewers on NBC last weekend. It was not comparable to last year as it was postponed to CNBC on Sunday morning; however, it was down 16.8% compared to the last Saturday night race in August 2021. Overall, it is “the smallest audience on record for the race, excluding makeup races,” according to Sports Media Watch.
NASCAR now heads to Darlington Raceway for the Southern 500 as the Cup Series begins the Round of 16 this weekend.
