NASCAR makes new rule regarding pit box surfaces in 2024

NASCAR has revealed a new rule regarding pit box surfaces during the 2024 season. Find out the new rule that NASCAR has put into place!

NASCAR has made a new rule regarding pit box surfaces six races into the 2024 season. According to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, NASCAR has added a rule limiting where teams can put adhesive chemicals in their pit boxes. This comes as teams with an opening at their pit box sprayed beyond the limits to avoid wheel spin when exiting.

The racing series will only allow teams to place adhesive products on the surface of each pit box from “outside line to outside line.” The product must be sprayed from an “enclosed container in a liquid or foam form.” Finally, any product that may damage the “surface of the pit box or timing loops, or discolor the painted lines of the pit box” is prohibited.

If NASCAR finds that a team goes beyond the pit box, they must clean it up before the event. This isn’t a shocking development, as NASCAR teams always find a way to walk a fine line or in the gray area. In this instance, the racing series has found another gray area. It is not a significant penalty if broken, but it puts everyone on an equal playing field.
