NASCAR is heading to Martinsville Speedway, and one driver is returning alongside the sport. [autotag]David Starr[/autotag] will make his NextGen car debut with [autotag]MBM Motorsports[/autotag] in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville. Starr’s last start in the Cup Series came with MBM Motorsports in the final race of the Gen 6 car at Phoenix Raceway in November 2021.
Since 2021, Starr has competed in 24 NASCAR Xfinity Series races after taking a step back from the Cup Series. Now, the 57-year-old driver will drive the No. 66 car as MBM Motorsports is locked into the event as an open entry. It will mark Starr’s 18th start in the Cup Series, with his first coming during the 2011 season.
Another premier series race added to his schedule! @starr_racing will make his return to the #NASCAR Cup Series this weekend, racing our #66 @MartinsvilleSwy in the #CookOut400. #LetsGoRacing

MBM Motorsports has not made many Cup Series starts since the 2021 season and did not compete at the top level in 2023. The organization is beginning to ramp up its efforts again, and while the speed hasn’t been present in its starts with the NextGen car, it will still be nice to see Starr back behind the wheel of a Cup Series entry this weekend.
