In a week in which Michigan State knocked off two major Big Ten rivals in Iowa and Maryland to move up from No. 24 in the Coaches Poll to No. 17, Michigan State star point guard Cassius Winston has also been named the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts.
Winston averaged 20 points, 7.5 assist, and 4 rebounds over the two big games and led the way for the Spartans in their upset road win over Maryland with 20 points and 6 assists. He also went 5/6 from three in that game as well. He had 20 points and 9 assists over Iowa in that home win as well.

This is Winston’s second Big Ten Player of the Week award this season and the seventh of his career. He last earned the award back in the beginning of January.
Michigan State plays again tomorrow when they travel to University Park to face Penn State in the Bryce Jordan Center.
