Most of the movies about NFL players end in tragedy or leave the viewers dreaming of what might have been.
That will not be the case for the upcoming biopic about Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, who will have his improbable life story documented in a new feature film based on his 2009 autobiography, “All Things Possible.”
The film will be released to theaters on Dec. 10. It had been scheduled to hit the big screen in 2020, but production was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“American Underdog” chronicles the incredible true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi), who went from stocking shelves at a supermarket to become a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback. The film chronicles Warner’s unique story and years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player, and when his dreams seemed all but out of reach, it is only with the support of his wife, Brenda (Anna Paquin), and the encouragement of his family that Warner perseveres and finds the strength to show the world the champion that he already is inside. “American Underdog” is an inspirational story that demonstrates that anything is possible when you have faith, family and determination.
Warner took over for an injured Trent Green in the 1999 preseason and led the St. Louis Rams to two Super Bowl appearances, winning one, as the ringleader of “The Greatest Show on Turf.” He was signed by the Giants in 2004 but was replaced by rookie Eli Manning after guiding Big Blue to a 5-4 record. He moved on to the Arizona Cardinals in 2005 and led them to the Super Bowl three seasons later, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Santonio Holmes’ miraculous touchdown catch in the final minute of the game.
Also appearing in the film are Dennis Quaid as Rams coach Dick Vermeil, former arena league player O.J. Keith Simpson as St. Louis running back Marshall Faulk and former Bengals cornerback Simeon Castille as Rams wide receiver Isaac Bruce.
