With the pick of the litter at linebacker and some receivers still on the board, the Buffalo Bills opt for the latter in USA TODAY’s final 2023 NFL draft mock.
At the No. 27 overall selection, the Bills take USC wideout Jordan Addison in the projection.
While the defensive need might be larger, Buffalo still has connections to Addison. He had a reported pre-draft meeting with the team.
A junior, Addison caught 59 passes for 875 yards and eight touchdowns in his lone season in Southern California. Addison led the Trojans in receiving even though he missed multiple games due to an ankle injury.
Addison broke out in his sophomore season with Pitt prior to transferring.
In adding Addison to their offense, Buffalo would bring in a great route-runner with massive yards-after-catch potential. He could push Gabe Davis for time as the team’s No. 2 wideout option behind Stefon Diggs, but bare minimum, all three could contribute to the Bills’ potential successes in 2023.
Here’s the breakdown from USA TODAY on Buffalo selecting Addison:
At 5-11 and 173 pounds, you’d like him to have better than 4.49 speed. However he was highly productive at Pitt (100 catches for 1,593 yards and 17 TDs in 2021) before transferring to the Trojans and leading them with 59 grabs for 875 yards and eight scores last year despite missing time with an ankle injury. Addison’s ability to play wide or in the slot is appealing, and he could make an immediate difference for Buffalo, earning plentiful targets against man coverage for a team that doesn’t have an established wideout behind Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis.
