Morehead State at Kentucky: Three things to know
- Morehead State, the alma mater of NFL Hall of Fame QB Phil Simms (for you trivia buffs), posted a 13-19 SU record last season while compiling a 14-14-1 ATS mark with an Under record of 18-11 in 29 games with a line.
- Kentucky, which opens the season ranked No. 9 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, registered a 25-6 SU/17-14 ATS mark last season for head coach John Calipari. While Big Blue nation waved goodbye to Tyrese Maxey, Immanuel Quickley and Nick Richards, all three picked in the 2020 NBA Draft, it’s no worry for the ranked Wildcats. Coach Cal simply reloads, every year, even in a global pandemic. McDonald’s All-American Brandon Boston Jr. is the next star to come through the Big Blue pipeline.
- There aren’t many programs that can lose their top six scorers and still be expected to compete for a national title the following season. But the Wildcats added Boston, as well as another five-star guard in Terrence Clarke. Wake Forest transfer Olivier Sarr was granted a waiver to play immediately, too.

Morehead State at Kentucky: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Kentucky 84, Morehead State 58
Money line (ML)
Kentucky (-5000) will cost you $100 for every $2 won, which is just not worth the risk. Yes, the Wildcats should smash the Eagles, but is it worth tossing up a C-note for the price of a couple of tacos? No. AVOID.
Against the spread (ATS)
KENTUCKY -23.5 (-110) has a bunch of moving parts after losing its top six scorers either due to graduation, the NBA Draft or exhaustion of eligibility. Either way, the Wildcats they have a slew of new, talented bodies to fill those boots … err, sneakers.
Over/Under (O/U)
The lean is to the OVER 141 (-110), as such blue blood teams hosting overmatched little guys on their home floors should enjoy some pre-Thanksgiving feasting with a lot of high scores.
