It is game week as we move closer to opening kickoff on Saturday. With the arrival of football season, there is no shortage of stories surrounding the Big 12 Conference. On Monday’s Big 12 morning rush we look at headlines from ESPN, USA TODAY Sports and Twitter.
Latest FPI (Football Power Index) is favoring Texas
In the latest findings using the computer simulations run by ESPN, the Texas Longhorns find themselves picking up some momentum. The Longhorns currently sit at No. 8 in the latest FPI standings. Just 0.1 points behind Oklahoma. However in the projected win totals the Longhorns are ahead of the Sooners 8.3 to 8.1. Not a huge gap but in weeks past, it was Oklahoma who led the way.
The Longhorns also have a higher win out percentage 4.7 to OU’s 4.1. Texas was also given the edge in 6 wins percentage, the percentage of simulations that ended in being bowl eligible. With players opting out and injuries occurring, it isn’t uncommon for the trends to change. As we are currently seeing it isn’t just the experts that seem to be leaning more towards Texas but the data as well.

Draymond Green: P.J. Tucker could be best ever at corner 3-pointers
Over at the Rockets Wire, Ben DuBose writes that a former NBA Defensive Player of the Year and NBA Champion Draymond Green had some things to say during the playoffs. Green discussed former Texas Longhorn P.J. Tucker, who is currently battling Los Angeles in the second round of the playoffs.
Green is observing the playoffs in a different capacity in 2020, since his Warriors had the league’s worst record after an injury-plagued season. So, during Sunday’s Game 2 of the second-round playoff series between Tucker’s Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers, Green took to Twitter to share his admiration for the corner 3-point shooting by his rival.
On Twitter Draymond Green said “Tuck may be the best Corner 3 point shooter in NBA history…”
New Oklahoma State WR Tay Martin ruled eligible
Newest weapon for the OSU offense tweeted out that he has been granted eligibility by the NCAA. Martin transferred from Washington State where he caught 143 passes for 1,615 yards and 18 touchdowns in the Mike Leach offense. The 6’3″ wide out gives the Cowboys another weapon to add to their explosive offense that already features Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace.
