The 2023 MLB draft is less than three days away. A few of LSU’s star players and possibly some of their recruits will hear their names called on draft night. One of those guys is [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag].
Skenes has been projected as a top-two draft pick all year long and that didn’t change in Perfect Game’s latest mock draft. It has him going No. 2 overall to the Washington Nationals. This makes a lot of sense because one of Skenes’ biggest comps is Stephen Strasburg.
Jim Callis decided to take a look at the top 10 pitching prospects of all time to see where Skenes would stack up. Skenes was ranked as the No. 2 pitching prospect of all time. Here is what Callis had to say,
As a sophomore at Air Force a year ago, Skenes was the only D-I player to reach doubles figures in both wins and home runs, and his considerable power potential would land him in the top three rounds if he were purely a position player.
As you could guess, the aforementioned Strasburg finished at No.1 on the list.
