Bears players have rallied behind receiver Allen Robinson as his frustrations have mounted about contract negotiations with the organization.
On Tuesday, running back Tarik Cohen and receivers Anthony Miller and Darnell Mooney took to Twitter to let the world — and the Bears organization — know that they believe Robinson deserves a contract extension.
Someone who certainly doesn’t want to lose Robinson is quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who threw his support for a contract extension for his No. 1 target.
“Allen’s just so reliable, you go to him in any situation,” Trubisky told the media Wednesday. “When he’s not open, he’s still open. That’s my guy.”

“And hopefully (the Bears) take care of him,” Trubisky added. “Because me and the rest of the guys on the team want him around. That’s very obvious. We all love A-Rob and we know what he brings to this team.”
There’s no denying that Robinson has been Trubisky’s top target since his arrival in Chicago. We’ve seen multiple instances where Robinson has some sensational plays on some questionable throws by the quarterback.
Look no further than what Robinson was able to accomplish last season. Robinson caught a career-best 98 receptions for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns in one of the NFL’s worst offenses, which is nothing short of remarkable.
Robinson is a cornerstone piece of this Bears team, and he represents everything a player should be both on the field. Given general manager Ryan Pace has made it a habit to extend deserving players, it’s puzzling as to why a deal hasn’t gotten done at this point.
While Robinson’s frustrations about contract negotiations reached a fevered pitch on Tuesday, Trubisky insists that it’s business as usual as the Bears prepare to face the New York Giants on Sunday.
“I think it’s really simple for us,” he said. “It may seem like a distraction on twitter or online, but not in the locker room. We are attacking practice.”
Hopefully the Bears offense will be attacking the Giants secondary come Sunday at Soldier Field.
