The Buffalo Bills’ transactions surrounding the offensive line have continued, but this time it’s in the opposite direction.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Bills have signed center Mitch Morse to a two-year extension.
Full terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed, but it’s said to be a $19.5 million extension with $12M in guaranteed dollars.
While we wait for the full numbers to be released, one could assume that the new contract will help the team gain a bit of salary cap space as free agency is slated to begin this week.
Prior to the extension, Morse was slated to have an $11.25M salary cap hit in 2022. Now signed through the 2024 season, we’ll eventually see exactly how much his cap hit has since dropped.
So far the Bills have done much of their salary cap retooling involving the offensive line. Two opening-day starters from 2021 have since been released by Buffalo to create salary cap space.
The first among those was Jon Feliciano, who was let go on March 9. Just prior to the Morse announcement, the Bills also released Daryl Williams. Both lined up at guard for the team last season.
