The Vikings came into 2020 with question marks at guard. When the season ended, those questions remained.
Dakota Dozier struggled in his first full NFL season as a starter. Minnesota re-signed him, but there’s a strong argument to be made that he will not start at left guard again. Then, there’s right guard: the Vikings put Ezra Cleveland in that spot, who did OK.
Ohio State guard Wyatt Davis should be a big help. Davis is a true guard who can compete for a starting interior offensive line spot as soon as 2021. The Vikings picked Davis in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft Friday.
Davis has been stellar at times for Ohio State, but he has to show that he can be more consistent. That said, this is a good pick from Minnesota. The team filled a need at guard and drafted one of the top interior lineman prospects in this draft.
