Nebraska Cornhusker freshman Bryce McGowens was taken with the 40th pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday night by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but that’s not his final landing spot. Instead, after a draft-day trade, he’ll be headed to Charlotte to play for Michael Jordan and the Hornets. He’ll join first-round picks Jalen Duren from Memphis, and Mark Williams from Duke as a member of the rookie class.

In his one season at Nebraska, the South Carolina native appeared in 31 games scoring 16.8 points and 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. However, the freshman campaign was far from perfect as the 6-6 guard shot 40% from the field and 83% from the line. His three-point shot, though, was a woeful 27% for the season.
