Timberwolves at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 115, Timberwolves 107

Moneyline

LEAN HAWKS (+110).

Atlanta has yet to have seen an all-star caliber game from G Trae Young, and I expect to see one here as Young has averaged 32.6 points per game and 9.9 assists per game in 10 career games against Minnesota. However, even if Young doesn’t show up, the Hawks may have found a solid backup plan in their balanced scoring attack that saw success vs. Milwaukee.

Against the spread

BET HAWKS +2.5 (-115).

The Hawks have the highest-powered offense the Timberwolves have seen this season, especially when firing on all cylinders. Minnesota’s starting 5 has not been very good or consistent offensively or defensively since trading for C Rudy Gobert last offseason, and those struggles will prove to be fatal here.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 234.5 (-110).

In 2 games Minnesota has yet to have a game that even hits Over 200, and while that will likely change here, I do not expect this game to reach this  number. I expect the strong defense of Minnesota to continue here, but it will be harder for the Timberwolves to stop this Hawks offense than it was to stop that of Miami or Toronto, especially if Young is lighting them up.
