Mike Vrabel calls Tom Brady to Titans rumors ‘a unique situation’

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel thinks the rumors linking Tom Brady to the Titans is “a unique situation.”

We are in uncharted territory when it comes to six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady possibly becoming a free agent and switching teams this offseason.

And it’s especially uncharted for the Titans, a team that is normally ignored but has now been pushed to the forefront of the conversation when talking about teams that could land Brady if he leaves the Patriots.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Jon Robinson danced around questions about Brady during the week, but Vrabel did call the rumors linking Brady to the Titans “a unique situation” while appearing on NFL Live during the week, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel (when asked by Suzy Kolber on NFL Live about rumors linking the Titans to Brady): “I would say it’s just a unique situation, having played with Tom and having a relationship with Tom and his family. [My son] Carter texted me [about social media rumors] and said, ‘Is Gisele at MBA [Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville]’ and I’m like, ‘No, Gisele is not at MBA.’ She wasn’t. I just think it’s unique that a head coach played with a quarterback that has an expiring contract that’s been in New England for 20 years.”

As Vrabel points out, he has a close relationship with Brady, which is a big reason why many have speculated about Brady possibly joining the Titans.

It also helps that Tennessee was a game away from the Super Bowl in 2019, showing that this is a win-now team that has many attractive pieces Brady probably wouldn’t mind playing with.

Whether or not all of this is enough to get Brady to Nashville should the Titans actually be interested remains to be seen, but the possibility of “The GOAT” leaving New England continues to gain steam.

Of course, signing Brady would mean Tennessee is choosing him over Ryan Tannehill, who had a ton of success last season and took a 2-4 team to the playoffs following a 7-3 run in the final 10 games of the regular season.

The only way that wouldn’t be true is if Tannehill is asking for a ton of money the Titans aren’t willing to pay and Brady is their backup plan. Based on his past success, Brady being a backup plan is hard to fathom, though.

It would be a big change for sure, but a fascinating one to watch to say the least. This offseason is already one of the more interesting ones in Titans history and not a single major move has been made yet.
