After a rocky finish to the regular season, the Pittsburgh Steelers focus forward as they prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs. Despite losing four straight games and dropping from a 10-3 record to the No. 6 seed, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin remains unwavering in his approach.
“We met this morning, and kind of got started with the introduction, talking about a mindset and focus,” Tomlin said today in his Ravens preview press conference. “It’s not about pouting over the last month. It’s about this week for us.”
The Steelers and Ravens are no strangers to each other, having already clashed twice and splitting the series. “We’re playing someone that we’re highly familiar with. They’re also highly familiar with us,” he said. “It’s the third time these two teams have come together. We’ll do it in their venue. And so there’s a lot of work ahead of us in preparation for performance.”
Rather than dwelling on recent struggles, Tomlin sees opportunity. “For us, it’s important that we take the lessons we learned from the last month. Unfortunately, you probably learn more when there’s failure. And obviously, we’ve experienced some of that,” he said.
As the Steelers prepare, they embrace the challenge of facing their rival again. With playoff hopes on the line, Steelers Nation can only hope that Pittsburgh is finally ready to prove they’re not finished.
