On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his end-of-the-season press conference. This is typically a time for Tomlin to reflect a bit on the past season but as a rule, he speaks in generalities, not wanting to give too much away.
But one area where Tomlin was surprisingly specific was the issue with injuries. Tomlin noted the large number of soft tissue injuries in 2024 the Steelers had to deal with. He said this was a priority that they would be looking into this offseason.
Typically, when you see a lot of soft tissue injuries, the first place you look is the strength and conditioning program. Phil Matusz took over the position of strength and conditioning coach for 2024, replacing longtime coach Marcel Pastoor.
