Mike Tomlin does not consider Mike Sullivan and Eddie Faulkner candidates for OC

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin will focus his search for a new OC on outside candidates.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his end-of-the-season press conference on Tuesday and it was perhaps the most open and honest presser we’ve seen from Tomlin in 17 seasons. One topic he was not shy about talking about is the search for a new offensive coordinator.

Tomlin made it clear he is focusing on outside candidates and does not consider interim offensive coordinator Eddie Faulkner and quarterbacks coach Kevin Sullivan candidates. Faulkner took over when Matt Canada was fired but the playcalling responsibilities went to Sullivan.

In the press conference, Tomlin made it clear he is going to focus on bringing someone in who can help create a more dynamic offense that can score points and keep defenses off balance. He also noted they need to already be an experienced OC and can help push the quarterback position forward.
