He might not be a Heisman finalist, but Kenneth Walker III is your 2021 Walter Camp Player of the Year. The Michigan State football running back earned the award on Thursday evening, along with being named a Walter Camp All-American.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year award is voted on by the nation’s 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors.
Other finalists for the award included Bryce Young (Alabama), Kenny Pickett (Pitt), Aidan Hutchinson (Michigan) and Jordan Davis (Georgia).
Walker is the first MSU player to win the award and the first running back to win it since Derrick Henry in 2015. Devonta Smith won the award last year.
