Michigan State football already has one recruit from New Jersey in the 2021 class and could be close to adding a second.
Three-star linebacker Mikai Gbayor released his top five schools Monday evening and MSU made the cut along with Nebraska, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and West Virginia.

MSU offered Gbayor back in April. If he were to choose MSU, he would be the second Garden State recruit for Mel Tucker’s inaugural class along with offensive guard Kevin Wigenton. Gbayor is ranked by 247Sports as the ninth-best player in all of New Jersey. The 247 composite rankings have him at the No. 679 prospect in the class of 2021.
Outside of his top five Gbayor also boasts offers from Alabama, LSU, Michigan, and Texas A&M among many others.
Gbayor previously had planned to commit to a school at the beginning of June, but pushed it back due to the coronavirus pandemic canceling his visits to prospective schools.
