Michigan State hockey defeats No. 1 Wisconsin at home, 4-2

MSU knocked off No. 1 Wisconsin Friday night at Munn:

Michigan State hockey is playing host to the No. 1 overall team in the nation, the Wisconsin Badgers this weekend at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing. The Spartans came into the game ranked No. 11, with a record of 8-3-1, while the Badgers sported a 9-1 record coming into the matchup.

The Spartans got the best of the Badgers in this one, defeating the No. 1 ranked opponents 4-2 in front of a sellout crowd at Munn.

MSU had four different goal scores in the game, with Nicolas Muller, Joey Larson, Tanner Kelly and Jeremy Davidson all earning tallies in the game. The Spartans outshot the Badgers 38 to 32 in the game.

The two teams will square off in game two of the series tomorrow at Munn at 6 p.m.
