After spending two years as the starter for Michigan State football, quarterback Payton Thorne will enter the NCAA transfer portal, 247Sports reported.
Thorne will enter the portal as a grad transfer after throwing for 6,493 yards and 49 touchdowns in his career with the Spartans.
Thorne enters the portal after an early spring that saw backup quarterback Noah Kim gain momentum in his bid to claim the starting spot. Redshirt freshman Katin Houser was not far behind.
