Tyrell Henry is a prospect that is high on Michigan State’s recruiting board. The 3-star wide receiver is a native of Roseville, Michigan, and is a star on the Roseville High School Panthers football team.
Mel Tucker, and wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins, have made Henry a priority from the very start of the 2022 recruiting cycle, making it known that they want to see him in the green and white.
The state of Michigan is filled with a lot of talent in the 2022 recruiting class, especially at the wide receiver position, and getting a commitment from a player like Tyrell Henry early on in the cycle could pay huge dividends down the road. The Spartans currently lead the crystal ball and futurecast predictions on the 247Sports and Rivals networks.
There is speculation that a decision is coming soon, with Michigan State being in the thick of the recruitment, it is possible the Spartans may have their first in-state 2022 recruit in the near future.

SpartansWire locked in a conversation with Tyrell, getting a better feel for his recruitment and what kind of player the fans of Michigan State could expect if he chooses to take his talents to East Lansing.

As speculated, Courtney Hawkins is the man to be credited for leading the charge in this recruitment.
“I would say I have the best relationship with Coach Hawkins and Tucker most definitely,” Henry said.
Something that has really stuck out to Henry about Michigan State is the family atmosphere, something that is always touted by those in the Spartan family.
“I love the family-friendly vibes on the campus and everything is just nice,” Henry explained about what he likes most about MSU. “I like how they are building the program to be something great.”
The Spartans have some stiff competition if they want to win this recruitment and are going to have to recruit Henry all the way until signing day. Who are the other schools Henry is most in contact with?
“Penn State, Nebraska, West Virginia and Cincinnati,” Henry said.
The Spartans do have an advantage, with some of the 2021 recruiting class members being so active in recruiting, Henry already has good relationships with MSU players.
“Yea I’m close with a lot of the new guys,” Henry said. “Like Davion (Primm), Tyson (Watson) and Kevin (Wigenton).”
What kind of player is Henry, something that Spartan fans should be very eager to see.
“I would say that I’m a fast-twitch smart player who’s going to work hard every play and can do it all,” Henry describing himself as a player.
The film backs up what Henry says, he is a dynamic athlete that will be able to do a multitude of things at the wide receiver position. He will be able to play both in the slot and the outside and will be a playmaker all over the field.
What separates Henry is the intangibles he will bring to whichever program he chooses. Michigan State fans will be excited to hear he already has the mindset like a Spartan.
“Energy, effort and consistency for sure,” Henry said. “And the mentality of an underdog.”
A chip on the shoulder of someone with the talents that Henry has is a dangerous proposition for whoever has to go against him these next four years.
Landing Tyrell Henry would be huge for coach Mel Tucker and Michigan State, setting a big tone to the start of in-state recruiting in 2022. Henry is a cornerstone piece to a program like MSU that is on the rise.
It is expected that the Spartans are looking to add three or four wide receivers in the 2022 recruiting cycle, Tyrell Henry would be a great first step.
