Michigan State basketball hires new Director of Recruiting

Tom Izzo has his new Director of Recruiting

Tom Izzo has filled the last void on his coaching staff ahead of the upcoming 2022-23 campaign. Izzo has tabbed Jon Borovich as his new director of recruiting.

Borovich has a lot of ties to the state of Michigan and MSU’s coaching staff. A native of Bloomfield Hills, Borovich played his college basketball at Central Michigan from 1997-2001. After his playing career, he was a graduate assistant at Michigan State from 2001-2003.

After Borovich’s stint as a GA at MSU, he has gone on to have a lengthy assistant coaching career in college basketball. He spent 2003-2005 as the director of basketball operations at Dayton and 2007-2011 as an assistant with the Flyers. In 2005-2007, Borovich was on Greg Kampe’s staff at Oakland. From 2011-2019, Borovich was an assistant coach at Northern Illinois under current Spartan assistant Mark Montgomery. Prior to joining MSU, he has spent the last 3 seasons on Chris Collins’ bench at Northwestern.
