Michigan State basketball freshman guard Max Christie set to test NBA draft process

It was never a question of if Max Christie would head to the NBA after joining Michigan State basketball last year, but when. On Friday, Christie announced on his Instagram page that he will explore if now is the right time by going through the NBA draft process while still maintaining his college eligibility to return for another season with the Spartans.

“My dream has always been to play in the NBA, and I am excited to announce that I will enter my name in the NBA draft process,” said Christie on Instagram. “I am humbled to have this amazing opportunity, and I look forward to receiving an accurate assessment and feedback from the NBA on where I stand.”

This is a no-lose, smart decision for Christie, who, at the least, will be able to gauge the interest in his talents and perhaps learn what he still needs to add to his game moving forward. Or, he could find that now is the right time to leave and start his pro career.
