Recruiting season is popping off for sophomore basketball players now that college coaches and staff can make contact with 2022 prospects. Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo has reached out to a number of players, including 2022 Guard Orlando Lovejoy, who currently plays for Summit Academy North High in Romulus, MI.
Orlando Lovejoy @swaggyoj (2022, G, Romulus Summit Academy) has been contacted by Michigan State , Toledo , LIU Brooklyn , and Miami of Ohio. He received an offer from the University of Detroit. @PrepHoopsMI

Lovejoy stands at 6-foot-1 and is a smooth combo guard which immediately creates Rocket Watts comparisons. Right now, Lovejoy has offers from the University of Detroit Mercy and Mississippi Valley State.
Next Generation Sports ranks him amongst the top 10 players in Michigan in the 2022 class. This list also includes other players MSU has contacted such as Emoni Bates, Ty Rodgers, and Kareem Rozier.
On top of offering Clingan and contacting Rozier, MSU also spoke with Orlando Lovejoy (2022)
Reminds me of a Watts prototype (note: not talent, yet). Has a nice one-handed floater, effective pull-up, and has that swagger and confidence with the ball pic.twitter.com/qSwik8Y2CN
