Michigan football wide receiver enters NCAA transfer portal

Bummer. Wish him well.

This one isn’t terribly unexpected, but it’s still disappointing for Michigan football fans.

The Wolverines have been thought to have an embarrassment of riches at the wide receiver position, yet, the unit may be the only one that truly underwhelmed in the 2022 season. While most ever receiver had a bright spot at a certain point, such cannot really be said for one wideout — especially considering what he did in 2021.

After choosing Michigan over his hometown school, MSU, Andrel Anthony — who was often called Jim Harbaugh’s favorite signee in 2021 — showed out against the Spartans, including a 90-plus yard TD among his two in the game his freshman year.

Anthony wasn’t targeted very often in 2022, and came down with the ball even less than that. On Wednesday, he announced his inclusion into the transfer portal.

With two years under his belt, Anthony has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

He drew rave reviews in the lead up to the 2022 season, garnering comparisons to Braylon Edwards, both physically, and also because he wore the No. 1 jersey.
