Michigan football limped into Week 4 without a resounding victory to its name but with a one in the loss column after the Week 2 loss to Texas. Saturday brought an opportunity to right those wrongs with No. 12 USC coming to town.
USC was favored and not many expected the Wolverines to pull out a win, even with new starting quarterback Alex Orji. But the maize and blue prevailed, upending the highly ranked Trojans.
As a result, Michigan rose in the Week 5 US LBM Coaches Poll, moving from No. 17 to No. 12. Texas is ranked No. 3, and three future opponents also are ranked: Illinois is No. 21, Oregon is No. 7 and Ohio State is No. 3.
