Now that recruiting is exploding for Michigan football in the class of 2024, the Wolverines are swinging for the fences in the 2025 class. And that means targeting elite players in talent-rich areas.
One of the maize and blue’s latest offers reflects that.
On Tuesday, Michigan football dipped into Florida, offering 2025 Miami (Florida) Central five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount, he reported on Twitter. Blount is rated the No. 4 player in the country according to 247Sports, the top player in the state of Florida and the second-best defensive lineman in the 2025 class. He’s listed at 6 feet, 3 inches and 250 pounds as a high school sophomore.

Naturally, Michigan football will battle just about every top program for Blount. He already has offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among others.
Also adept at shot put, here is 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins on Blount’s potential:
A twitched-up defensive lineman with elite shot put numbers (was Florida’s 3A state champion as a freshman and an AAU Junior Olympian). Got varsity snaps as an eighth grader in the Sunshine State’s highest classification. Followed his rookie season up with a breakout freshman campaign in which he totaled 13 sacks while working alongside Miami signee Nyjalik Kelly. Not the biggest – or longest – of defenders, but can win with his initial get-off and a simple chop of the hands. Has been deployed as both a 5 and 4i on Friday nights. Figures to settle in as more of an interior player at the next level height/weight/length combo (he was roughly 6-foot-2.5, 250 pounds in February of 2022), but has shown that he can run the arc and be effective out on the perimeter in 1-on-1 situations. Far from a complete product, and will need to keep evolving as both a pass rusher and a run defender over the next few years, but already tracking to be one of the top prospects in South Florida for the 2025 cycle given early body of work. Likely to emerge as a top target for Power Five programs around the country.
