Michigan football is swinging for the fences in recruiting now that it has revamped its coaching staff. And so far, it’s had excellent early returns.

While a top 12 isn’t nearly as significant as a commitment, the fact that the Wolverines are making top groups for high-end players shows that the staff isn’t settling and is making headway for some of their top prospects. Such is the case for 2022 Seattle (WA) Rainier Beach five-star offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr.

Conerly put out his top group of 12 schools on Tuesday, and Michigan football made the cut, along with perceived favorite Washington, Alabama, Oregon, USC, Stanford, Cal, Arizona State, Texas, Oklahoma, Auburn and UCLA.

Sherrone Moore is his primary recruiter and Michigan football has a long way to go in this one. But it’s still a good sign that the Wolverines are the only school in Big Ten territory to make the cut for Conerly.

Washington has one 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction put in for Conerly at this juncture.
