Michigan football gets a commitment from a French prospect

Such an intriguing player! #GoBlue

Michigan football added an exciting element to its 2023 recruiting class on Friday afternoon.

Aymeric Koumba, a French prospect, committed to the Wolverines, making 12 commitments to the class. He is being recruited to play as an edge defender at the next level.

Koumba has no ranking on 247Sports composite, but he isn’t very well known just yet. He started doing camps and Michigan saw the overseas player at a football camp in Georgia and the maize and blue were one of the teams wanting him to play for them.

What makes Koumba so intriguing is not only his size — 6-foot-4 and 234-pounds — but he has a verified 7-foot 1-inch wingspan. This prospect has a ton of upside for Michigan, and Mike Elston wanted to jump all over this recruitment early.

The international prospect works with Brandon Collier who has helped other overseas players gain scholarship offers.

What made Michigan stand out so much? He told the Michigan Insider that he was a huge fan of Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo. Ojabo being an international prospect like himself made the Wolverines a very intriguing choice.

He had offers from Vanderbilt, UConn, Buffalo, and East Carolina.
