Mike Morris didn’t have a lot of time to shine for Michigan football, but he made the most of the time he had.
In his first, and only, season as the starting edge rusher for the Wolverines, Morris finished with 7.5 sacks, despite missing two full games and being severely hampered in at least two others. Perhaps his injuries played a part in him falling in the 2023 NFL draft. Morris’ speed also wasn’t quite what teams anticipated; he ran a 4.95-second 40-yard dash, far below expectations.
Still, Morris showed his ability and versatility (having bulked up and shown the capability of playing inside as well) in 2022. He was rewarded by being selected at No. 151 by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft. He’ll pair with former Wolverine Bryan Mone on the defensive line.
Morris chose Michigan football despite being a Florida State legacy. He was originally committed to the Seminoles but flipped to the Wolverines late in his recruitment. He had to wait until 2021 before he really started to get involved on the defense, and he had a role as a backup, managing half a sack. But he burst onto the scene in 2022 once he earned the opportunity to start.
He was joined in Ann Arbor during his senior season by his sister, Mimi Bolden-Morris, who took on the role of quarterback assistant.
