It begins.

While the 2020 class didn’t end up as Juwan Howard & Co. would have liked, given the loss of one commit and another prospect that looked to be a Michigan lean, the Wolverines have started their 2021 class in earnest on Wednesday.

Hailing from Oak Park (IL) River Forest, Isaiah Barnes is a four-star shooting guard/small forward with offers from Kansas, Illinois and Wisconsin among others. He’s rated as the No. 85 player in the country according to 247Sports’ proprietary rankings, the 20th best small forward and No. 5 player in the state of Illinois.

And he committed to wear the maize and blue at the next level.

Barnes is Michigan’s first commitment of the 2021 recruiting cycle.
