Is Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid the greatest coach of all time? One of his former NFL quarterbacks considered his candidacy in a recent podcast appearance.

Former NFL QB Michael Vick recently appeared on former Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill’s “It Needed To Be Said” podcast, talking about a variety of topics. During a discussion about why the Atlanta Falcons didn’t win a Super Bowl during Vick’s tenure, Reid’s candidacy as the greatest NFL head coach of all time came up.

“I was actually thinking this year like, after Andy won the Super Bowl, he only got two, but he went to like four or five NFC Championship Games every year y’all was in the AFC Championship Game,” Vick said. “He might be the greatest coach of all time. You don’t have to win championships to be considered. You know, I understand Belichick and Brady and that whole dynamic. But coach [Reid] did it in Philly, and then he doing it in KC. I’m always shout out coach like I love that man to death; like for real literally I do anything for him.”

The longevity argument is certainly something to consider and that we’ll look at increasingly in the coming years. Reid has been able to find a level of coaching success with a number of different quarterbacks during multiple junctures of his career with multiple teams. He became the first NFL coach to win over 100 games with two different franchises this past season.

The raw numbers might favor New England Patriots HC Bill Belichick. Reid has coached 386 regular season games during his career with a 247-138-1 overall record. That’s good for fifth all-time in NFL history and about 50 wins shy of Belichick. Reid has coached 38 playoff games with a 22-16 record including two Super Bowl wins. Belichick has coached 44 playoff games with a 31-13 record, including six Super Bowl titles. As far as Super Bowl success is concerned, both Reid and Belichick have only won titles with a single quarterback, respectively.
