Michael Penix Jr. visits New England Patriots ahead of NFL Draft

Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is set to visit the New England Patriots ahead of the NFL draft.

The New England Patriots and Washington Huskies have formed a deep connection very quickly after coach Jedd Fisch hired Steve Belichick as his defensive coordinator, and longtime Patriots head coach Bill Belichick spent five days on Montlake.

Now, as the Patriots do all their research on the quarterbacks in this year’s NFL draft, they have invited quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to visit Foxborough, Massachusetts. According to multiple reports, Penix is having dinner with high-ranking members of the organization on Monday and will take a top-30 visit to New England’s facilities on Tuesday.

The Patriots are doing their due diligence on quarterbacks, as they’ve also invited Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, and North Carolina’s Drake Maye in for a visit as they prepare to make the third overall pick in next week’s draft.

Penix will make another stop on his tour, as according to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, he will also spend Wednesday and Thursday with the Washington Commanders, who hold the second overall pick.

While Penix’s stock seems incredibly unlikely to climb all the way into the top five, he has now met with seven teams drafting inside the top 15 which seems to bode well for his status ahead of next week’s draft.
