Mic’d-up Calais Campbell regretted leaving Ravens teammate Devin Duvernay on his fantasy bench

NFL players: They’re just like us!

Heading into Week 1 of the NFL season, Baltimore Ravens receiver Devin Duvernay wasn’t exactly someone you’d see starting in many lineups across fantasy leagues. But the few owners who picked up Duvernay certainly wished they had started him after the Ravens’ 24-9 win over the Jets.

Calais Campbell was among those feeling regretful.

The Ravens posted some mic’d-up video from Sunday’s game, and we could hear as Campbell discussed having Duvernay on his fantasy bench right as Duvernay was putting up major numbers against the Jets. Duvernay finished with two touchdowns for 54 yards, which wasn’t bad for a player rostered in just 2 percent of ESPN leagues.

Let’s be fair to Calais, though. He only had Duvernay on his fantasy team because they’re actual, real-life teammates. But if the third-year pro continues scoring touchdowns, Duvernay might break into more starting lineups out there … or at least Campbell’s.

And for those wondering about how NFL players are allowed to play fantasy football but not bet on games (Free Calvin Ridley), they’re allowed to play as long as they don’t accept a prize that exceeds $250.

Fans did appreciate this moment, though. NFL players: They love talking about their fantasy teams just like the rest of us!
