Miami Heat at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Miami Heat at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat (7-9) visit the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Sunday to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (9-6). Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Cavaliers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Heat are on the 3rd game of a 4-game road trip with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday to cap it off. They lost to the Washington Wizards on Friday 107-106, covering as 7.5-point underdogs.

Miami will be without its 2 leading scorers and will likely also be down C Bam Adebayo, the team’s most versatile defender. That will mean G Max Strus, who is averaging 15.5 points per game will be expected to step up.

While Miami is 4-12 against the spread (ATS), Cleveland is 8-6-1. The Cavs pushed as 10-point favorites in a 132-122 win Friday over the Charlotte Hornets. Cleveland is 0-5-1 ATS in its last 6 games.

It is led by one of the league’s best backcourts, a combination of G Donovan Mitchell and G Darius Garland. The duo combines to average 54.8 points and 13.6 assists per game.

Heat at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cleveland 108, Miami 102

Moneyline

PASS.

Cleveland should win, but at (-475) there isn’t much value. Miami is short too many key players to predict the upset as well.

Against the spread

LEAN HEAT +10.5 (-115).

The Heat are a deep team, and they proved that against Washington.

Strus is a quality scoring option, and G Kyle Lowry, who should be active, is among the best leaders in the NBA. Neither team is great on the offensive glass and neither team is turnover prone either.

The game should be relatively clean, and with an ultra-slow pace, a big lead may be difficult to come by. Miami is 2-2 ATS in its last 4 as well while Cleveland is 0-5-1.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 214.5 (-105).

Both teams rank in the bottom half of the league in offensive rebounding rate and neither team ranks in the bottom 3rd in turnover rate. The real aspect of this game that will impact the total is the pace.

Given Miami’s absent scoring, Lowry may make this game even slower. Both teams already sit in the bottom 4 in pace, so scoring in transition will be at a premium.

Despite overtime, the Heat went Under against Washington, and Cleveland has traded off going Over and Under the projected total in its last 4, hitting the Over in its last batter with Charlotte.

Given the lack of scoring for Miami and the pace of both teams, back the Under 214.5 (-105) here.
