Mel Kiper suggests Marcus Mariota could land with Raiders in 2020

Quarterback Marcus Mariota’s time as the starter for the Tennessee Titans has come to a close.

Quarterback Marcus Mariota’s time as the starter for the Tennessee Titans has come to a close.

But could he be starting elsewhere next season?

That’s not for certain, but he’ll definitely find a new landing spot in the NFL.

And analyst Mel Kiper seems to think that could be with the Las Vegas Raiders, as he mentioned on the First Draft podcast.

The 26-year-old could land in a situation where he may be able to take the staring job from Derek Carr sooner rather than later, or at least serve as an insurance policy until called upon.

The Raiders could also find ways to incorporate Mariota in certain packages — the same way the Titans did when he was demoted in 2019.

Mariota has plenty of faith in his ability to be an NFL starter moving forward.

‘I have no doubts at all, no doubts at all,” Mariota said earlier this year in a report by the team’s website. “I’m just hopeful and ready for whatever that next opportunity is.”

Las Vegas is just one of many places the quarterback could find a future in a starting role — whether that be immediate or later on down the line.

The Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts are just a handful of teams that will be in need at the position and present options as Mariota prepares to hit free agency.
