‘McGregor sleep:’ Dustin Poirier roasts Conor McGregor at UFC 264 news conference

Not known for his trash-talk, Dustin Poirier got a big pop when he intercepted a question headed Conor McGregor’s way.

If you were to do an overview of the lifetime series, it’s safe to [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] has a hefty lead on [autotag]Dustin Poirier[/autotag] when it comes to the successful insults landed.

On Thursday, however, it was Poirier (27-6 MMA, 20-6 UFC) who landed the best diss of the UFC 264 pre-fight news conference when he took McGregor’s workout program, McGregor Fast, and threw it back in the Irishman’s face.

When McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) was asked by a media member why his niceness for Poirier has vanished ahead of the trilogy fight, “The Diamond” jumped in and answered himself.

“Because he got knocked the f*ck out,” Poirier said. “Not McGregor Fast. McGregor Sleep.”

See, now that’s clever – a word you couldn’t use for many other lines at Thursday’s trash-talking event. This single insult may very well have won Poirier the news conference. Perhaps it even entered him into 10-8 territory.

Anyway, I’m glad that news conference is over. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but that was like a bad SNL parody (not that SNL is ever good) – especially on McGregor’s part. So, shoutout to Poirier for breaking up the cringe and giving us an actual laughable moment.
