Max Verstappen gives bold statement on possible contract from Mercedes

Max Verstappen gives a bold statement on a possible contract offer from Mercedes. Find out what Verstappen had to say about Mercedes!

[autotag]Max Verstappen[/autotag]’s future at Red Bull has been a topic of conversation since the start of the 2024 Formula 1 season. Most notably, Verstappen has been linked to [autotag]Mercedes[/autotag] to replace Lewis Hamilton, who will join Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc in 2025. Yet, does it make sense for the three-time Formula 1 champion to take his talent to Mercedes?

Verstappen spoke to the media about a possible contract with Mercedes, which would involve elevated money. The Red Bull driver seems committed to this current team as long as it remains competitive.

“My future is within Red Bull at the moment,” Verstappen said. “Even if that were to be the case, money would not be the difference to make me go somewhere else. I know myself, and if I’m driving for P5 or P6, you get quite grumpy with yourself. It’s always about performances at the end of the day, everyone knows that and [Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff] also knows that.”

Verstappen wants to win, and the best place to make that happen is with Red Bull. Could Mercedes be an option if the team starts being more competitive with Hamilton and George Russell? It can always be a possibility but Red Bull is the clear dominant team. Verstappen can build something even more special at Red Bull, but Mercedes is trying to knock down the door.
